The Central School (ro:Şcoala Centrală) is one of the oldest schools in the City, and was established in March 1851 by Prince Barbu Ştirbei as a school for girls, which opened in 1852. The Central School is an architectural landmark and was included in the "List of Historical Monuments in Romania (2004)".
