Tilicho Lake (4919m) is known for being the highest lake in the world and is located in Manang District of Nepal in the Annapurna region. Among the trekking routes in the Annapurna region, Tilicho Lake trek has been growing as a popular destination for nature lovers. Tilicho Lake Trek unquestionably provides some of the world's amazing and thrilling views, the great variability of culture and diversity, finest deep gorges, and high peaks adjoining the massive Annapurna Himal.

 Tilicho Lake Trek begins from Chame and goes along the Marsayangdi River, with amazing views of Manaslu (8156m) and Himalchuli (7893m) to the east. For the lovers of Mother Nature, it is a wonderful opportunity to be amid the pristine hills (barren and green), snowy mountains, rugged settlements, and challenging paths that lead to the tranquil Tilicho Lake.

Itinerary

Day 1: Drive from Kathmandu to Besisahar (760 meters)

Stop At: Thamel, Kathmandu 44600 Nepal
You will take a drive from Kathmandu to Besisahar. The route will go along the Kathmandu-Pokhara Highway to Dumre that will further follow the narrow and paved road by the Marsayangdi River and reach Besisahar. You will get to see snow-capped mountains like Annapurna II (7937m) and Machhapuchhre (6997m) and beautiful landscapes from here. You will get a chance to experience the lifestyle, culture, and traditions of locals living in the Besisahar as well.

Day 2: Trek Beshisahar to Bahundanda (1310 meters)

Stop At: Besisahar, Lamjung, 69PC+PPV, Besisahar 33600, Nepal
From today your trek begins, you will walk along the banks of the Marsayangdi River and cross the suspension bridge towards Bhulbhule. Gradually, you will trek steeply towards Bahundanda, which will be a 2-hour walk. You will get to enjoy beautiful views of snow-covered peaks, and the daily life of people of the Gurung community.

Day 3: Trek Bahundanda to Chamje (1430 meters)

Stop At: Annapurna Mountain Range, Nepal
After having a warm breakfast, you will begin your trek towards Chamje. The trail heads downwards to Syange (1100m) and after that, you will cross a thrilling suspension bridge over the Marsayangdi River and go along the same river to reach Jagat. From Jagat, you will climb up and reach Chamje.

Day 4: Trek Chamje to Bagarchhap (2160 meters)

Stop At: Chamje, C9QQ+6HG, Besisahar - Chame Sadak, 33600, Nepal
You will begin your trek following the rocky trail along the Marsayangdi River and then slowly climb uphill to Tal at 1700 meters. Tal is the first village in the Manang district. From here, you will ascent and descent several times to reach Dharapani (1860 m). You will reach Bagarchhap, where you will get to see flat-roofed stone houses designed by local Tibetans with fields of maize and apple orchards

Day 5: Trek Bagarchhap to Chame

Stop At: Annapurna Mountain Range, Nepal
From Bagarchhap, you will trek towards Chame which is the headquarters of Manang. The trail is easy to walk and you will hike through forests and reach Koto. From here you will continue walking towards Chame where you will observe the culture and traditions of people who moved from Tibet a long time ago.
Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes

Day 6: Trek Chame to Pisang (3100 meters)

Pass By: Annapurna Mountain Range, Nepal
You will continue your trek through the deep forest in a narrow and steep valley. You will then cross two bridges, one at 2,910 meters and another at 3,040 meters. You can view beautiful snow-capped Lamjung Himal (6983m) and other mountains. Further, you will follow the trail to climb to Pisang and after some rest, you can visit the monastery and get a beautiful view of Annapurna II (7937m). You will stay overnight at a guest house.

Day 7: Trek Pisang to Manang (3540 meters)

Pass By: Annapurna Mountain Range, Nepal
You will begin your climb on the steep ridge that will present you with gorgeous views of Manang Valley and Tilicho Peak (7,134 m). Descending through Manang's airstrip at Humde (3280m), you will witness the north-east face of Annapurna III (7,555 m). Further walking will lead you to a beautiful view of Annapurna IV (7,525 m). From here, you will cross a wooden bridge over Marsayangdi Khola. After a short steep climb, you will reach Manang and stay overnight at a lodge.

Day 8: : Acclimatization day at Manang village

Pass By: Annapurna Mountain Range, Nepal
This is a rest day for you to get acclimatized with the increase in altitude. Manang is a large village for a very isolated place. You will spend your whole day exploring the village and interacting with locals. Observe lifestyle, ancient culture, and traditions of the locals residing in this area. You can also visit the Gangapurna Lake which is incredibly beautiful. Return back and stay overnight at a guesthouse

Day 9: Trek Manang Village to Khangsar Village (3734 meters) 6 hrs walk

Pass By: Annapurna Mountain Range, Nepal
Today, you will again continue your trek and follows the path down to the river. You will cross Khangsar Khola via a bridge and after then you will ascend the slope to the Khangsar Village. It is a typical Tibetan styled village which is also known as the last village of Nepal and stay overnight at a guesthouse.

Day 10: Trekking Khangsar to Tilicho Base Camp (4150 meters) 4 hrs walk

Pass By: Tilichol Lake, Manang Nepal
You will begin your trek and pass a Gompa and follow a route that is a recently constructed trail up towards a high ridge. You will see two routes from here one is old and difficult whereas, the other is a new route that is less difficult in comparison. You will walk on the new path and reach the crest and then decent along with the steep slopes to a side valley. You will reach Tilicho Base Camp and stay overnight there.

Day 11: Trek to Tilicho Lake (4920 meters) & Tilicho Base Camp (4150 meters) 3 hrs walk

Stop At: Tilichol Lake, Manang Nepal
You will wake up early in the morning and begin your trek as soon as possible to avoid the wind which kicks up later in the day created by the mixing of the warming land and the cold air. From the Base Camp, you will walk for 3 to 4 hours and reach Tilicho Lake. Tilicho Lake is a beautiful, cold, and isolated place. After enjoying outstanding views up here, you will return back to Base Camp where you will stay overnight.

Day 12: Trek Tillicho Base Camp to Yak Kharka (4050 meters) 8-9 hrs walk

Pass By: Yak Kharka, PQPM+G92, मुक्तिनाथ सडक, Jomsom 33100, Nepal
You will trek slowly down from the Tilicho Base Camp and ascend 500 meters to reach Yak Kharka. You will climb through Tengi leaving the Marsayangdi Valley that will lead you to the Thorung Khola. From here, you will reach Yak Kharka. You will see herds of yaks and vegetation begins to disappear as you continue along to Yak Kharka.

Day 13: Trek Yak Kharka to Thorong Phedi (4525 meters) 4 hrs walk

Pass By: Thorong Phedi Thorong La Trail, QXP4+V6W, Thorong Phedi - Thorong La Rd, Tanki Manang 33500, Nepal
After having a warm breakfast, you will gradually begin climbing to a ridge and decent to the Kone River. You will cross the Kone River over a wooden bridge and after a short ascend on the right, you will go on a narrow trail. Descending from here will lead you to the Thorong Phedi. You will stay overnight at the guest-house.

Day 14: Trek to Muktinath (3760 meters) via Thorung La pass (5416 meters) 8-9 hr walk

Pass By: Thorangla Pass, Manang Nepal
Today, you will need to walk for a long time to reach Muktinath. You will begin your trek early in the morning and reach the Thorang La Pass. High altitude and extreme snow can cause problems, but your experienced guide will help you along the way. You will see Chortens and colorful prayer flags here in Thorung La Pass. You will again start walking and reach Muktinath after walking for about 4 hours. Muktinath is a famous holy site for Hindu Pilgrims. Every year hundreds of pilgrims visit this place from all around the world. You can also visit another famous temple called, Jwala Mai Temple where you will witness a lovely natural spring and permanent flame fueled by natural gas.

Day 15: Trek Muktinath to Jomsom (2720 meters) 6 hrs walk

Pass By: Jomsom Muktinath Trek, Nepal
You will continue your trek towards Jomsom following the trail of Kagbeni or Lupra. You will go along the banks of the Kali Gandaki River to reach Jomsom. Jomsom is a beautiful cold valley with many facilities. This place is headquartered of the Mustang district. You will get to see gorgeous views if Mt. Tilicho (7,134 m) from here.

Day 16: Morning flight from Jomsom to Pokhara. 30-minute flight

Stop At: Phewa Tal (Fewa Lake), Pokhara Nepal
You will wake up early today and take a morning flight to Pokhara. The flight will present you with stunning views of snow-capped mountains. After reaching Pokhara, you will be taken to your hotel where you will rest for a day. In the evening you can walk around the peaceful environment of the lakeside.

Day 17: Leisure day and Sightseeing Pokhara

Stop At: Pokhara Museum, Pokhara Nepal
Today, you will visit the famous places of Pokhara like Davis Falls, World Peace Pagoda, and Mahendra Cave. You will also have the chance to do some boating on the radiant Phewa Lake. You can also do other adventurous activities like paragliding, helicopter tour, bungee jumping, and cycling. You can also buy souvenirs for your loved ones from the famous market of the lakeside.

Day 18: Pokhara- Kathmandu (1300 meters).
