The Bank of the Republic began its purpose in 1939 to protect the archaeological heritage of our country. In December of that year, the quimbaya poporo was the first object in this collection, which turns 80 in 2019.

The Botero Museum has one of the most important collections of international art that can be found in Latin America. Thanks to the donation made by Maestro Fernando Botero in 2000 to the Banco de la República, the public from the capital and abroad have been able to access this important international art exhibition for free and permanently. It is made up of 208 works, 123 by him and 85 by prominent international artists.
