We kick-off in style with the magnificent Diocletian's Palace in the heart of The Old Town and travel back to the ancient Roman Empire. We take a step into the rich cultural heritage of this vibrant city with its numerous palaces, quirky narrow streets and lively markets and artisan shops.

We will visit the Substructures of the palace built by the Roman emperor Diocletian in the 3rd century and from there we continue to the upper part of this magnificent retirement villa of the emperor Diocletian.

Later we go to the Synagogue and learn about this small, but immensely important Jewish community. Many prominent members of this community played a significant role in the economical and historical development of Split.

In the Synagogue we meet a member of Jewish community who shares his stories of the Jewish heritage in the city of Split.

Explore, discover and really get-to-know the Old Town of Split with all the delightful little secrets and anecdotes of this gorgeous Mediterranean city. The tour focuses both on the Diocletian's palace and the Jewish heritage.

The Jewish Community of Split is one of the oldest in Europe. The archaeological findings from the nearby Roman city of Salona prove that the Jews lived there together with the Romans, probably sometime between the 2nd and 3rd century AD. Centuries later, the citizens of Salona escaped the attacks of the Barbarians and inhabited the Diocletian’s Palace. The Jews shared the destiny of other citizens of Salona and started their life in Split

We kick-off in style with the magnificent Diocletian's Palace in the heart of the Old Town and travel back to the ancient Roman Empire. Discover menorahs carvings in the basements of the palace that testify to the Jewish people being present in Split since the early centuries.

Admire the tall sculpture of the most renowned Croatian sculptors Ivan Mesštrović and learn about the bishop Grgur Ninski.

Stop At: Split Synagogue, Zhidovski Prolaz 1, Split 21000 Croatia

We will walk through the Jewish ghetto and you will be told about the rich history of the Jewish people in the city of Split.
We then visit the synagogue and meet a member of the Jewish community who shares stories of the Jewish people in the city of Split. Many prominent members of this community played a significant role in the economical and historical development of Split.

Learn about the bronze plaque that has been placed on the square in a memory of the destruction some of the precious items and archives from the synagogue on the 12th June in 1942.

Prokurative or as they are officially called, Republic Square resemble the Venice St. Marks Square. They are located west of the Riva and they were named after the arches found on the neo-Renaissance buildings surrounding the square on three sides. Most people to this day know it by that name. The square is only open on the south side, providing a beautiful view of the harbour and the Riva (waterfront).

It is another beautiful promenade popular with both the locals and our visitors. Off the street is the fish market where we can stop if you wish to have a look where the locals buy the fresh Adriatic fish.
