Our Athens private half-day sightseeing tour will begin with a visit to the most important archaeological monument, an icon of the Greek civilization, the Acropolis of Athens.

The Acropolis of Athens, also referred to as the “Sacred Rock” is the most important monument in Europe. When reaching the top of the Acropolis, you will find yourself at the entrance or the Propylaea, which was completed in 432 B.C. You will also get to admire the most imposing monument which is the Parthenon, as well as the Temple of Athena Nike and the Erechtheum with the famous Caryatids.

Temple of Olympian Zeus which was the biggest temple in Greece during the Hellenic and Roman period.

Stop At: Arch of Hadrian, Leoforos Amalias, Athens Greece

The Arch of Hadrian, most commonly known in Greek as Hadrian's Gate, is a monumental gateway resembling – in some respects – a Roman triumphal arch.

It spanned an ancient road from the center of Athens, Greece, to the complex of structures on the eastern side of the city that included the Temple of Olympian Zeus.

In front of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, every hour of the day spectators can enjoy the changing of the presidential guards where the Evzones perform a perfectly synchronized ceremonial.

Next on the programme is a visit to Syntagma Square which is the central square of Athens, named after the Constitution that the first King of Greece Otto was obliged to grant. The Hellenic Parliament which is housed in the Old Royal Palace overlooks the Syntagma Square.

The Temple of Poseidon which was built in the 5th century BC to honour the Greek god of the sea, is one of the most important sanctuaries in Attica. During the half-day tour to the Temple of Poseidon you will have the opportunity to visit the impressive ruins of the ancient temple and to admire the surrounding natural beauty.

According to the Greek mythology it is here that King Aegeus of Athens flung himself off the cliff because of the mistaken belief that his son had died in a battle with the Minotaur on the island of Crete, giving the name to what is known today as the Aegean Sea. This ancient tragic tale of Theseus and King Aegeus is still used in the modern story-telling today.
