Would you like to know more about the times when punk rockers were beaten up and imprisoned by the Communist authorities, on the one hand, and getting signed to state-controlled record labels, on the other? The 1970s and 1980s punk music from Slovenia was, and still is, amazing! It was very unique in the Communist East. And it's still very unique in the whole world! ‘Children of Socialism’, 'Via Ofenziva', ‘Ljubljana Dogs’, 'Ciao Bitches!', ‘Bastards’, ‘Berlin Wall’, and ‘Niet’ - these are just a few names of the bands that were turning an alternative music scene into an opposition movement. This walking tours takes you to the Johnny Rotten Square, Revolutions Squares (yes, a couple of them!), and other cult places. Also, you can count on listening to some legendary Slovenian/Yugoslav Communist Punk, Post-Punk and New Wave songs from a portable speaker.

The oldest and poshest part of town that used to be a graffiti and alternative music heaven. And it still is if you know where to look.

Stop At: Monastery of the Holy Cross Summer Theater (Krizanke Poletno Gledalisce), Trg francoske revolucije 1, Ljubljana 1000 Slovenia
Believe it or not, punk is very much connected to this holy place.

Behind the renovated façades of the Old Town fascinating alternative shops, music venues and galleries can be found.

Stop At: Republic Square, Subiceva ul. and Valvazorjeva ul., Ljubljana Slovenia
Although it is not obvious at first glance, Ljubljana's Republic Square used to be one of the most important hangouts of punkrockers.
