Hear the life and death of Santa Caterina, whose stories inspired one of the chapels within the church and its Luini frescoes. Next, continue onto Piazza degli Affari, the financial district of Milan. This is the economic pulse of the city and of the country, giving Milan its eclectic mix of fashion, finance and folklore. Learn of its beginnings in 1808 and even further into the past – during Emperor Augustus’ reign and get catapulted back into the present with Maurizio Cattelan’s controversial public sculpture called L.O.V.E. and also known to the Milanese as ‘Il Dito‘ (the middle finger).

Your walking tour will culminate at Milan's most famous piazza and Basilica: the Duomo! A perfect example of Italian Gothic architecture, built under Archbishop Antonio da Saluzzo, the Duomo took nearly 600 years to finish (!) and remains the current seat for the Archbishop of Milan. The area marks the heart of the city center of Milan and of what what once known as Roman Mediolanum during the Roman Empire.
