The Vatican museums host some of the finest and largest art collections in the world.
The museums were established by Pope Julius II at the beginning of the 1500'. Since then, thousands of artworks were gathered a in different art collections.
Here you can find some of the best statues and artworks from the Classical times all the way up to the Renaissance era.
Frescoes, paintings, mosaics, sculptures and statues were collected over the centuries, making the greatest art collection in the world.
Some of the finest artists worked here over the centuries, including Giotto, Raphael, Leonardo da Vinci and Caravaggio.

Stop At: Sistine Chapel, Viale Vaticano, 00165 Vatican City Italy
The Sistine Chapel is the greatest artwork here at the Vatican. The chapel is part of the Apostolic Palace. Its name is due to Pope Sixtus IV, who commissioned its construction.
The project begun at the end of the 1400, with the frescoes of some of the finest artists of the time.
The Chapel though, is worldwide famous for the frescoes of Michelangelo Buonarroti, who worked at the Sistine Chapel from 1508 to 1512, representing famous scenes from the Old and New Testament.
The most famous section is probably the notorious "Creation of Adam", from the book of Genesis.
Michelangelo then worked again at the Sistine Chapel under Pope Clement VII, who commissioned the artist to paint the Universal Judgment.
