Stop at: Taman Ayun Temple is one of the most attractive and most visited temples in Bali. Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2012, this 17th century creation was built by the Royal Mengwi Empire and was once only accessible by the royal family. It was renovated in 1750.

The dominant shrines are merus (pagodas) dedicated to the lake Goddess and the gods of Mt. Batur and Mt. Agung, the largest volcano in Bali. The temple was built in the year 1633 in worship of the main Hindu Trinity, Brahma-visnhu-shiva, as well as the lake Goddess Dewi Ulun Danu.
