Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Ghana

Pass By: Accra, Accra, Greater Accra
Arrive in Ghana. You will be pick up at the airport and transferred to your hotel. There will be a welcome dinner and drinks where you meet everyone else on the trip including your in country trip leaders.

Day 2: Explore Accra

Stop At: Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, High St., Accra Ghana
This is the last and final resting place of the first president of the Republic of Ghana. It houses a curious collection of Nkrumah's personal belongings, including the smock he wore while declaring Ghana's independence, as well as copies of personal correspondence and numerous photos of him and various world leaders.

Stop At: Independence Square, Accra Ghana
Black Star Square is a site for Ghana's Independence Day parade, which falls on the 6th of March every year. The Independence Arch in Accra, Ghana, contains monuments to Ghana's independence struggle, including the Independence Arch, Black Star Gate, and the Liberation Day Monument. The Independence Square is the second largest City Square in the world after the Tiananmen Square in Beijing, China.

Stop At: Makola Market, Kojo Thompson Rd, Accra Ghana
Accra’s largest open-air market which overflows with goods, people, scents and sounds, hustle and bustle. It is the best place to absorb the atmosphere of a West African market. It is quite an amazing place with lots of very narrow alleyways and women walking about with huge bowls and other packages on their heads. Good place to shop for most things but very crowded most times. Get almost everything you need for your home at reasonable rate. Your guide to show you the more interesting parts of the market and find some cool vantage spots for excellent photo opportunities. Plan to spend the day, there is plenty to see.

Stop At: W.E.B. DuBois Center, 1 Circular Road, Cantonments just few meters from the US Embassy and close to Ghana International School, Accra Ghana
Pan Africanism memorial centre. Here we will learn about WEB Du Bois. An American sociologist, socialist and historian.

Day 3: Drive to Cape Coast via Faana Village

Stop At: Cape Coast, Cape Coast, Central Region
We will head into the Central Region of Ghana today. Enroute we will stop at Faana village to visit this ancient community and to see the way of life of the people. This is a settlement of about 400 people trapped in between the sea and the Densu river. To live on the Island one munt not give birth or die. During the tour we will learn about the history of the settlement. We will have lunch afterwards and head to Cape Coast.

Day 4: Explore Cape Coast

Stop At: Assin Manso, Assin Manso, Central Region
We will visit the Assin Manso slave river and market which was the final place salves had their last bath before they were made to walk bare footed through the virgin forest for 3 weeks to the castles and were shipped to the unknown world.
Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Cape Coast Castle, Cape Coast Ghana
We will discover how slaves were kept in the dungeon awaiting for the ships and visit the door of no return.

Day 5: Discover Elmina Ancient Town & Kakum Rain Forest and Canopy Walk

Stop At: Kakum National Park, Cape Coast Ghana
Kakum Rainforest and Canopy Walk is one of the few only existing canopy walks in the world. We will visit and explore the park
Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes

Stop At: Elmina, Elmina, Central Region
Elmina is Ghana's top most historical town. We will go on a walking tour and visit most of the historical buildings. We will also visit the 17th century Dutch Cemetery, the Posuban Shrine and the Asafo post.

Day 6: Discover Elmina & Naming Ceremony

Stop At: Elmina, Elmina, Central Region
Today we will visit the chief palace about the traditions of the local people. We will also have a typical naming ceremony where we will be given names base on the day we are born as it is a custom in the Ghanaian culture and dressed in a African clothing. After there will a merry making with brass bands where walk through the streets of the local town.

Day 7: Rest and Relaxation.

Stop At: Elmina Castle, Elmina Ghana
We will have a full day Rest and Relaxation today. Later in the day we will go for a reverential walk of return. This walk will begin at the Elmina castle inside the dungeon with our candles all lights on and we will walk from the dungeons to the forecourt of the castle barefooted where we pay homage to our ancestors and all lost souls during the salve trade era.

Day 8: Drive to Kumasi

Stop At: Manhyia Palace Museum, Ahanti New Town Road off Antoa Road, Kumasi Ghana
This is the seat to the King Of The Ashanti Kingdom. We will be portrayed too and discover the rich history of the Asante Empire
Duration: 1 hour

Pass By: Kejetia Market, Kumasi Ghana
This is West African's largest and busiest open air market.

Day 9: Drive to Accra via Visit to Bonwire Kente Village

Stop At: Bonwire Kente Weaving Centre, QGRG+WVP, Juaben, Ghana
We will learn about different kind of Ghanaian cloths and symbols and its meaning with its significance to the Ghana culture.
Duration: 1 hour

Day 10: Depart Ghana

Stop At: Accra, Accra, Greater Accra
Today will be our last day in Ghana. We will visit the Accra Arts Center to make our last souvenir shopping. We will drop you off at the airport in time to enable you catch your flights with not much stress.
