Itinerary

Located in Tijuca National Park, the 842-meter-high Pedra da Gávea is considered the largest block of rock by the sea in the world and is without a doubt the most challenging and coveted mountain in the city of Rio de Janeiro.

The name Gávea comes from the resemblance to the baskets that were used for observation on the masts of Portuguese caravels.

From the top of Pedra da Gávea, you can have a privileged view to the south and west of Rio de Janeiro, in addition to the main sights such as Pedra Bonita, Christ the Redeemer, Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon, Sugar Loaf and many others.

Many legends and stories surround the region, including being a gateway to other dimensions, entry point for underground cities and flying saucers.

The walk to Pedra da Gávea is made in the middle of the Atlantic Forest with the possibility of sighting wild animals.
