Table Mountain at the foot of Africa captures the imagination with its iconic 1km high by 3km wide plateau towering out over the ocean. What is less obvious, is that this dramatic scene forms but the northern edge of a much larger, incredibly diverse mountain wilderness right here within the city of Cape Town! Easily accessible, it is a true hiker's PARADISE with spectacular views, hidden valleys, gorges, and flower-lined mountain streams.

Having hiked so many of this paradise's hiking routes myself, so many times, I bring a wealth of knowledge and experience of which routes are suitable to whom, where are the best views, rock formations, hidden valleys, rock pools, little waterfalls, and endemic species in flower.

I tailor-make unforgettable private guided hiking experiences to suit your interest and fitness level, sharing some of the mountain's best-kept secrets.

Description

Itinerary

During this full-day detoxing immersive mountain hike, we hike up the Back of Table Mountain, enjoying magnificent mountain-ocean views as we ascend. Once on top, we hike all the way across the mountain-paradise to the iconic flat Table-top overlooking Cape Town.

Along the way we explore interesting rock formations and secret rock fissures. We hug ancient indigenous trees and hike through fields of stunning flowers. We take a well-deserved break halfway, dipping our feet into a forgotten mountain stream in a high mountain valley, the beautiful chorus of frogs still echoing loudly, the City neither heard nor seen.

After the break we continue hiking back towards views of Cape Town as we reach Maclear’s Beacon, at 1083m ASL, the highest point on Table Mountain, feeling restored and left with a true sense of 'paradise lost', having been found.

From Maclear's we enjoy magnificent views of Lion's Head, Table Bay and Robben Island as we hike across the front ledge of Table Mountain to the upper Aerial Cableway station where the hike ends and guests can purchase tickets to take the Cableway down. If closed, we hike down to Tafelberg Rd. Add 1.5 to 2 hours, additional fees may apply.
