Stop At: SchwuZ, Rollbergstr. 26, 12053 Berlin Germany

We start with Germany's oldest queer club. We'll see how Germany's most famous trans* woman kickstarter Berlin's modern club culture in the 70s and how she attracted world-famous celebrities like David Bowie, Freddie Mercury, or Tina Turner. You'll learn how the 1970s gay rights movement in West Berlin led to the foundation of Germany's oldest queer club and what role that club played in the AIDS crisis and the LGBTQIA+ liberation movement. You'll also learn the parties that the club organizes today, as well as the politics the club pursues.

Stop At: SO36, Oranienstr. 190 Kreuzberg, 10999 Berlin Germany

Next is SO36. Here you'll see what role the punk scene in the 80s played in the emergence of modern club culture and how club culture was linked to political movements in a Berlin divided by the wall. You'll also learn about the parties and events happening at SO36 today, like for instance the famous Kiezbingo or Gayhane, a party organized by and for queer and trans people of Turkish and Arab descent.

Stop At: Sage Club, Koepenicker Str. 76, 10179 Berlin Germany

At our third stop, you'll not only discover the Clubcommission, which is the political lobby organization of the Berlin clubs, but also the world-renowned Kit Kat Club. The latter, whose inspiration stems from a novel about 1920s Berlin by Christopher Isherwood, is especially famous for its fetish parties.

Stop At: YAAM, An der Schillingbruecke 3, 10243 Berlin Germany

Next is YAAM, a club and cultural center organized by and for the BIPOC communities. Here you'll also deepen your understanding about why Berlin clubs offer safer spaces for marginalized communities.

Stop At: Berghain, Ruedersdorferstr. 7, 10243 Berlin Germany

Berghain is probably the world's most famous club. Rule number one: What happens at Berghain, stays at Berghain. But even if some more juicy details will be left out, you'll still learn fascinating details about the club and the parties happening inside. This will all be wrapped up in some historical context from the emergence of the gay community and how Berghain bends sexual and gender norms.

Stop At: RAW-Gelände, Revaler Str. 99, 10245 Berlin, Germany

We'll wrap up our tour at RAW Gelände which hosts a number of other famous clubs. You'll get an overview of some of them as well as of the parties that they host. At the end, you'll have an overview of Berlin's best clubs and parties, and can better assess which ones are most suited for you.
