I was born and raised in Lalibela and hence what you can call a true local. Lalibela has a fascinating cultural ancestry unique even by Ethiopian standards, which I am delighted to share with guests by putting my personal experience in place.

We will get off the beaten path, explore the local traditions and have a trully memorable Ethiopian journey. I am profoundly famiilar with all the surrounding mountain area as it has been my home since I can remember. The trekkings are flexible according to guest preference, from the more accessible to the more daring. We will also take the chance to meet local people who will add an even more genuine touch to the experience

Itinerary

Day 1: Welcome & First Trek

Stop At: Rock-Hewn Churches of Lalibela, Lalibela 1260 Ethiopia
I'm happy to guide you on walks in the local area, or further on trekking trips. I offer 1day treks to Ashton mountain to see the geladas (open heart baboons) or Asheton Maryam to see the beautiful mountain church.
For those on a budget wishing to travel and sleep as the locals do, I help with language barriers and keeping costs minimal, furthermore I can organise cars, hotels etc in advance and make sure you see as much as possible within the time you have, on the budget you choose.
If you want to visit our 11 amazing churches and it would be a pity for you not to see them, I can show you where the ticket office is.

Day 2: Early day hike to Ashton monastery and church (4 hour total). Hike to 3400m and visit some of the first Church

Stop At: Lalibela, Lalibela, Amhara Region
On the second day we have the chance to dive deeper on Ethiopian culture by combining some mountain trekking wthi visit to local villages and coffee cerimony
