I provide water, a snack bar and a clean/sanitized backpack for each hiker if needed. For centuries the Cahuilla people hiked to these hill tops that overlook Palm Springs to send smoke signals to nearby tribes that they traded with. Since these trails are unmarked they're mostly known & used by locals & don't get as used like other area trails during the busy winter/spring tourism season. We'll be on land adjacent to the Santa Rosa & San Jacinto Mountains National Monument on a network of some of the best hiking trails in Palm Springs. You'll enjoy Palm Springs hiking at it's best with lots of scenic views of the Coachella Valley & a hike into a hidden Palm tree oasis. I know these trails well & the most scenic viewpoints along the way to enjoy some of the best views of Palm Springs & far beyond. You'll see desert vegetation close up with views from the desert valley floor all the way up to beautiful nearby mountain peaks, while getting in some great exercise.

Description

Itinerary

Enjoy a loop hike on some of the best Palm Springs hiking trails on unmarked trails known mainly by locals, so not nearly as busy as other hiking trails in Palm Springs. As we hike we'll have amazing views of the desert valley all the way up to the beautiful mountains that surround Palm Springs. I'll point out & talk about the plants & how the Cahuilla people used them for medicine.

We'll see the very unique mid century modern Bob Hope house from the top of Hope Overlook (a hill at 1,371 ft.) & enjoy 360 degree views, perfect for scenic photos.

We'll see the windmills, Joshua Tree National Park, the San Jacinto Mtns, Mt San Gorgonio (the tallest mtn. in So Cal at 11,503 ft.), Palm Springs & other desert cities that make up the Coachella Valley. Next we'll head downhill into a small hidden Palm tree oasis that's in a canyon, not in Indian Canyons. (See my other new hike that is in Indian Canyons). During the winter the endangered Peninsular Bighorn Sheep come down to the desert to give birth, hopefully we'll see some if you're here then.
