Your first stop is Tollymore Forest park, known as the “Enchanted Forest” in the series. This is where the “White Walkers” began their march into the realm of men. Take a walk to what is possibly the most famous location in the series the “stepping stones”.
Next on your journey is medieval Inch Abbey. Situated on the river Quoile, this location was used in various Game of Thrones scenes. In the distance you will also be able to see Downpatrick Abbey, the resting place for the patron Saint of Ireland, Saint Patrick.
Next, move on to Castle Ward, better known to Game of Thrones’ fans as Winterfell, the ancestral castle and seat of power of House Stark. The site of this imposing 18th century mansion has magnificent views of lakes, forests and medieval buildings. It is also home to many filming locations of the series. You will also have the opportunity for some lunch here.
From here, start making your way back to Dublin along the spectacular coast road. Stop at one of the small towns, Newcastle en route. Maybe relax with an Irish coffee at what is known as “Charlie Chaplin’s Hotel” – the Slieve Donard resort.
You will arrive back in Dublin at around 7:30 PM.
You can present either a paper or an electronic voucher for this activity.
