Stop At: Torre de Belem, Avenida Brasilia - Belem, Lisbon 1400-038 Portugal

Originally built in 1520, it's one of the most iconic images of Lisbon.
King Manuel I commissioned this fortified tower to be built near the harbor from where the portuguese "caravelas" were sailing overseas to protect the fast growing city of Lisbon.

Stop At: Centro Historico de Cascais, Cascais Portugal

Often called the Portuguese riviera, Cascais's history as a cosmopolitan center originates in the late 19th century, when King Luís I and the Portuguese royal family made from this seaside town their summer residence.
During World War II and the Post-War period, the area's royal affiliations intensified, as many heads of European royal houses and deposed monarchs, made their home in Cascais and Estoril, finding refuge in Portugal's neutrality.

An estate full of history. Owned by several foreign families, it inspired Lord byron the poet to write about it’s magnificence and uniqueness.
Acquired in the mid 19th century by Francis Cook, a wealthy English merchant who started to work on the remains of the old house to create an impressive summer residence for his family.
The design was influenced by Romanticism and Mudéjar Moorish Revival architecture with Neo-Gothic elements as a fine example of the Sintra Romanticism, along with other nearby estates.

Pass By: Quinta da Regaleira, Rua Barbosa do Bocage, Sintra 2710-567 Portugal

Probably the most mysterious and intriguing monument of Sintra, this property consists of a romantic palace and chapel with Neo Manueline architecture, and a luxurious park that features lakes, grottoes, wells, fountains, and a vast array of exquisite constructions.
Known as "The Palace of Monteiro the Millionaire", based on the nickname of its best known former owner, António Augusto Carvalho Monteiro, the estate has a full set of enigmatic buildings with a constant presence of symbols related to alchemy, Masonry, the Knights Templar, and the Rosicrucians.

Initially used as a Moorish governor residence, King Afonso henriques used it as his own residence after conquering Sintra and Lisbon in mid 12th. Century.
The blend of Gothic, Manueline, Moorish, and Mudéjar styles in the present palace is mainly the result of building campaigns during different centuries.
It’s one of the most iconic landmarks from Sintra with the two imponent chimneys from the kitchen being able to be seen from distances far away. This is the main palace located in the historical center that you can opt to visit while you are at your free time in Sintra village.

After the conquest of Lisbon by D. Afonso Henriques, the castle surrendered voluntarily to Christian forces.Afonso Henriques entrusted the castle's to the inhabitants, granting them privileges in the foral as a mechanism for guaranteeing the region's security and development.

Pass By: Park and National Palace of Pena, Estrada da Pena, Sintra 2710-609 Portugal

Built on top of Sintra mountain, reusing an abandoned 16th century monastery, the Pena Palace reveals the love of King Ferdinand II to his wife and to the portuguese historic and cultural heritage.
A colorful masterpiece that joins a unique architecture with breathtaking landscapes inside an immense and luxurious garden.

This is the oldest church in the city.
Built after que conquer of Lisbon by D. Afonso Henriques in 1147, the cathedral has survived many earthquakes and has been modified, renovated and restored several times.

Pass By: Praca do Comercio (Terreiro do Paco), Avenida Infante Dom Henrique 1C, Lisbon 1100-053 Portugal

Commonly known as Terreiro do Paço because it was the location of Paços da Ribeira (Royal Ribeira Palace) until the 1755 Lisbon earthquake.
After the earthquake, the square was completely remodeled as part of the rebuilding plan of Marquês de Pombal, Sebastião José de Carvalho e Melo.
It is actually still one of the biggest city squares in Europe.
